Germany Calls on Nationals to Flee Iran

(MENAFN) The German Embassy in Tehran issued an urgent renewed warning Friday, calling on all German nationals still inside Iran to depart immediately as fears of a major regional military escalation continue to mount.

The embassy made clear that travel to Iran is actively discouraged, citing a rapidly deteriorating security landscape that stretches beyond Iran's borders.

"The security situation in Iran and the entire region is extremely volatile and very tense. Further escalation and military clashes cannot be ruled out. Further restrictions on air traffic, including flight cancellations and airspace closures, may occur at any time," it said.

The warning also flagged a critical limitation for German nationals who may find themselves in distress — the German Embassy in Tehran is currently "only able to provide limited consular assistance on site," significantly narrowing the safety net available to citizens who delay their departure.

The embassy's renewed alert follows a stark statement from US President Donald Trump, who confirmed Friday that he was "considering" a targeted military strike against Iran as a pressure mechanism to force a new nuclear or diplomatic agreement — though he declined to provide specifics. The announcement came as Washington has been visibly reinforcing its military footprint across the broader Middle East region, raising alarm among European governments monitoring the situation closely.

With airspace closures potentially imminent and diplomatic support severely constrained on the ground, Berlin's message to its citizens in Iran could not be more direct: leave now.
